Mark your calendars and get your black outfits, as Wednesday Season 2 is back! If you were obsessed with the first season (who wasn’t?), then you’re going to be living for the return of everyone’s favorite gothic queen, Wednesday Addams. The Wednesday season 2 release date is officially locked in: Part 1 drops on August 6, and Part 2 will follow on September 3. At Dapper Diary, spooky never goes out of style, and we are excited about the sequel as well. So, get ready for an all-new thrill, what’s new, and why Jenna Ortega is about to snatch our attention all over again.
Before we get into the tea for Season 2, let’s rewind a sec. Wednesday season 1 instantly became a huge hit and went viral. It became Netflix’s second most-watched season of television ever, only falling behind the legend that is Squid Game. We followed Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) as she reluctantly started her life at Nevermore Academy—a school for outcasts, misfits, and magical folks.
Wednesday manages to uncover dark secrets, defeat the evil Crackstone, and save Nevermore. All while handling horrifying psychic visions, creepy monsters, and mysterious murders. No biggie. By the end of season 1, she goes from a misfit to a full-on school hero with a little help from her friend Enid.
Returning for Season 2 are our faves:
We’re also getting new faces like Thandiwe Newton, Lady Gaga, Haley Joel Osment, and even Christopher Lloyd. Yes, the OG Fester is making a cameo—this is not a drill.
Do you want to know the best news ever? Instead of one big season drop, Netflix is giving us Wednesday Season 2 in two separate parts. So, we get more spooky goodness, better thrills, and definitely more Jenna Ortega scenes.
Each part will have four episodes, making a total of eight for the season. Therefore, don’t ghost your screen as it’s going to be a wild ride.
Season 2 picks up with Wednesday back at Nevermore Academy. However, we know that things are far from chill. A whole new supernatural mystery is brewing, and someone close to Wednesday might be in danger. In the season 2 trailer, Wednesday gets a vision of Enid dying, and apparently, it’s all her fault. She’s going to save her friend, or, as we saw in the trailer, “Die trying.” Total nightmare fuel!
Oh, and plot twist: Wednesday’s not just the weirdo in the corner anymore; she’s basically a celeb at school. There’s literally a fan club. Girls are dressing like her, leaving her notes and fan art, and even asking for her autograph. Her response? “I only sign my name in blood. Just not my blood.”
We have to talk about that Jenna Ortega scene in Season 1. You know the iconic dance that took over TikTok, Instagram, and your entire feed. Season 2 is hinting at a new moment that could top it. The trailer teases a bold replacement for the viral scene, and while it’s still mysterious, expect something darker, deeper, and totally unforgettable. Jenna Ortega definitely carried Season 1 with her savage delivery, all-black fits, and dry humor. And judging by the trailer, she’s not toning it down at all.
Wednesday’s little bro, Pugsley, is stepping into the spotlight in Season 2. Plus, we’re meeting even more Addams family members. This includes the legendary Grandmama. The campus is also getting fresh blood (pun intended) with a bunch of new characters, some of whom might be a little sus. There’s a standout new girl who’s part of Wednesday’s fan club, seems to have more on her mind than just fangirling. She and Enid are spotted witnessing Wednesday doing something shocking—offscreen, of course.
You know it’s going to be spooky and stylish when Tim Burton is calling the shots. He’s directing two of the first four episodes (Part 1) and returning again for two episodes in Part 2. Paco Cabezas and Angela Robinson are also on directing duties. The visuals are gothic perfection. As for the soundtrack, we are getting a The Phantom of the Opera remix that slaps harder than expected.
Wednesday’s Social Glow-Up
Season 2 is showing us a new side of Wednesday. Not because she’s suddenly cheerful (let’s not get crazy), but because she’s no longer just the mysterious outcast. Her heroic past has made her low-key famous, and she’s not exactly loving the spotlight. This shift reflects Jenna Ortega’s real-life glow-up too. Since Season 1, Ortega has gone full A-list. She’s been in major movies and on magazine covers and has become a Gen Z fashion icon. Basically, her life is mirroring her character’s, and it’s pretty meta.
