Jimin & BTS Ghost the 2025 VMAs for an Album and World Tour

You heard it here first: Jimin and all six of his BTS brothers gave the MTV VMAs 2025 a nope. This made a quiet storm around the world, especially among the Army (BTS fanbase). At Dapper Diary, we wanted to get to the bottom of what led to this decision, and we found out the truth! If you’ve been wondering why Jimin skipped the VMAs or what BTS (yes, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, V, Jungkook) are really up to, keep reading. Spoiler: it’s more than just skipping a red carpet.

Why didn’t Jimin show up at the 2025 VMAs?

Jimin was nominated for his solo track “Who” in the Best K-Pop Song category. It was definitely a big moment for Jimin, but he didn’t attend. Instead, he kept it low-key. Lisa ended up winning the award, and she wasn’t there either; cue the prerecorded speech moment. So why skip the VMAs altogether? Jimin and Jungkook only finished their mandatory military service in June. They were officially out. The timing still feels like “just back, still recovering” energy, which does make more sense and adds traction to Jimin news.

What are BTS up to now that they are reunited?

All seven members—RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, V, Jimin, and Jungkook—are finally back together. They’ve already spilled their next big move. We are about to get a full BTS album in spring 2026, which is followed by a world tour. You’ll be glad to know that skipping the VMAs doesn’t mean they’re fading away. It’s quite the opposite. J-Hope has even teased studio sessions in Los Angeles, photos and all. They’re cooking up something serious, and the hype is beyond real.

Jimin’s Military Service & VMAs:

If you are wondering, “Did military service affect Jimin’s VMAs decision?” The answer is: absolutely, yes! For all Koreans, regardless of stardom status, serving in the army for between 18 and 21 months is mandatory and takes priority. Therefore, failure to do so can lead to imprisonment and severe penalties. Jimin’s solo album Muse dropped in July 2024 while he was still in uniform. His solo went viral, and BTS Jimin was trending around the world. Now, as we fast forward to June 2025, Jimin BTS is wrapping up his military service, and suddenly it’s reunion time with BTS. We do agree that being nominated at the VMAs was meaningful, but probably not worth adding to the pile of post-service obligations.

What fans want to know: Is BTS back for good?

Short answer: yes, and the receipts are here. They’ve officially announced a new album, a world tour, and global domination part two. So the eternal fan question, “Are BTS done?” The answer is a very confident no! They’re in full comeback mode, with Jimin’s solo success fueling the fire and the group’s energy ramping back up.

Dapper Diary’s take: Skipping the VMAs was smart!

Red carpets are fun, trophies shine, and interviews trend, but the real impact lives in performances, albums, and fan connections. Jimin and BTS skipping the VMAs wasn’t a snub; it was a power move. A reminder that they don’t have to show up everywhere to stay relevant! They’re not out of the game. They’re just choosing when to play. If you’re going to show up, you better show up big. BTS 2025 is reloaded, recharged, and ready to remind the world why they are still untouchable. At Dapper Diary, we now know why Jimin or BTS didn’t show up at the VMAs. They’re too busy plotting the next chapter, and trust us, it’s going to be massive!
